23 Apr 2021: Zimbabwe register first-ever T20I win against Pakistan: Records broken

Zimbabwe have sealed a historic victory over Pakistan in the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club.

The hosts have managed to defend 118 in what turned out to be a low-scoring thriller.

Notably, Zimbabwe have produced their first-ever victory against Pakistan in T20 Internationals.

The three-match T20I series is now leveled at 1-1.

Here are the records broken.

Match: How did the match pan out?

Zimbabwe were off to a decent start after Pakistan invited them to bat.

Opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe looked set, but didn't get the required support from the others.

He remained the top-scorer (34) for Zimbabwe, who compiled 118/9 in 20 overs.

Although Pakistan looked set to chase the paltry total, the dismissal of Babar Azam turned the tide.

Eventually, Pakistan were bundled out on 99.

Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe attain several feats

As stated, Zimbabwe have won their first-ever T20 International against Pakistan.

Before this, Pakistan were on an unbeaten streak of 15 matches against the home side.

Moreover, Zimbabwe have claimed their first T20I win since October 2019.

This is also their first win in the format against a Test-playing nation since September 2019 (beat Afghanistan by 7 wickets).

Jongwe: Jongwe adjudged Player of the Match

Luke Jongwe remained the standout bowler for Zimbabwe in the match.

He rattled the Pakistani batting line-up by taking four wickets.

Jongwe conceded only 18 runs in 3.5 overs, and recorded an economy of 4.70.

For his formidable effort, Jongwe was named the Player of the Match.

Meanwhile, Ryan Burl also accounted for two wickets in the match.

Milestone: Maiden T20I wicket for Danish Aziz

Left-arm spinner Danish Aziz, who made his debut in the first T20I, bowled well for Pakistan today.

He gave the visitors a crucial breakthrough when Kamunhukamwe and Tadiwanashe Marumani looked set to form a partnership.

This was Danish's maiden wicket in T20 Internationals.

He took another wicket in the form of Wesley Madhevere, and registered figures of 2/29.

Bowlers: Mohammad Hasnain starred for Pakistan

Fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain remained the pick of Pakistan bowlers in the match.

He snapped up two wickets, having conceded mere 19 runs at an economy of 4.80.

Hasnain dismissed Tarisai Musakanda and Jongwe in his third and fourth over respectively.

Meanwhile, the likes of Faheem Ashraf, Arshad Iqbal, Haris Rauf, and Usman Qadir took a wicket apiece.
