Aligarh, Sep 20 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was shot dead here allegedly over Rs 8,000 that he had lent to his friend, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place on Saturday at Shamshad Market under Civil Lines police station and the accused has been arrested, they said.
According to inspector of Civil Lines police station Pramendra Kumar, the victim, Sharuq, had lent the amount to one of his friends.
Sharuq went to his friend's house in Shamshad Market along with another friend on Saturday. The friend who accompanied Sharuq was waiting for him on the roadside when sound of gun shots were heard. On reaching the spot, he found Sharuq bleeding profusely, according to police.
The victim was rushed to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, they said.
On the basis of the report filed by the victim's family, the accused friend, Zain Lodhi, was arrested on Saturday night, police said.
Sharuq was an assistant at a photographer's shop in Amir Nishan market, according to his family members. PTI COR NAV CK
