Adityanath takes charge as CM, Modi tweets he'll make UP 'Uttam Pradesh'

After taking the oath as the chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, who was dressed in his characteristic saffron robes, walked over to and sought the blessings of senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Hours after being sworn in as the 21st Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath's office tweeted that his government is committed to fulfill the dreams of youths by providing jobs and self-employment opportunities for them.

Cheered by thousands of supporters at Lucknow's Kanshiram Smriti Upvan, Yogi Adityanath was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Ram Naik.

Phoolpur MP Keshav Prasad Maurya and Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma were then sworn in as deputy chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh.

Watching the ceremony were Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, BJP veterans L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he has immense confidence in Yogi Adityanath's new team and they will make UP Uttam Pradesh.

"Have immense confidence that this new team will leave no stone unturned in making UP Uttam Pradesh.There will be record development," PM Modi said.

The BJP had thrown a surprise by naming Yogi Adityanath, Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma as candidates for Uttar Pradesh chief minister and Deputy chief ministers. None of them are among the 312 elected legislators in the UP Assembly election held recently.
