Xiaomi reveals full list of Mi and Redmi phones to get Android 9 Pie update, check if your phone is listed
Xiaomi started 2019 on a great note. The company first launched the Redmi Note 7 in China followed by Mi 9, Mi 9 Transparent and Mi 9 SE. In February Xiaomi launched the first phones of 2019 in India, where it is the top smartphone brand, as per IDC's 2018 report. The phones are Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. Notably, all the phones that Xiaomi has launched in 2019 so far come running on Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10 out-of-the-box.
Xiaomi has now announced the list of old phones that are eligible to get the Android 9 Pie software update. Check if your phone makes it to the list. Xiaomi has confirmed that by Q1 2019 end these Redmi phones will get Android 9 Pie based on MIUI beta:
--Redmi Note 5
--Redmi S2 (which is the Redmi Y2 in India)

Meanwhile, the company is testing Android 9 Pie on the Redmi 6 Pro and the Redmi 6X. It is worth noting that since this timeline is only for the Chinese version of MIUI, the users of the aforementioned phones might need to wait for some time.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has started working on its next MIUI version aka MIUI 11. Reports suggest that the MIUI 11 will come with system-wide dark mode and include several improvements related to face unlock speeds and Dolby effects.
After India, Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China on March 18. The company will also be launching Redmi 7 and also Black Shark 2 on the same date, March 18. We expect the India variant of the Redmi Note 7 Pro to launch in China as well. In India, the Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with a starting price of Rs 13,999. This is for the base model that packs 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There's a 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model of the Note 7 Pro which costs Rs 16,999.
