Xiaomi Redmi Y1, Y1 Lite to go on Sale on November 15 at 12 Noon on Amazon India and Mi.com
New Delhi, November 14: Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi’s latest budget phone- Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite will be live on sale again today at 12 noon on Amazon India and Mi.com. The prices start at Rs 6,999 to Rs 10,999. The new ‘Y’ series introduced by Xiaomi is placed close to the other Redmi series devices in the segment. Launched in India a couple of weeks ago, the smartphones went on sale in India for the first time on November 8 but went out-of-stock in no time. Xiaomi India VP and Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain declared on Twitter that over 1.5 lakh Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite units were sold out in just 3 minutes.
The Xiaomi device was launched two weeks back at an event in Delhi. India was one of the first countries to receive the device. The Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite are expected to go out of stock in a matter of minutes even this time. The Redmi Y1 was launched in two variants- one with 3GB RAM which is available at Rs 8,999, while the other one with 4GB of RAM priced at Rs 10,999. Meanwhile, the Redmi Y1 Lite comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can also be expanded via microSD card is available at Rs. 6,999.
The talking point of the new Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the 16Megapixel front facing camera and a 16Megapixel primary camera. The device not only features a high definition module but also performs better in terms of low-light pictures. The front facing camera will come with an LED flash and a 76.4 degree wide angle lens. To have a better chance at buying the device, the user is advised to sign in before time, enter the address and card details before 12pm.
Manu Kumar Jain, Vice President Xiaomi and Managing Director Xiaomi India in a tweet mentioned that the Chinese firm announced that it shipped 9.2 million smartphones, which is a record number of units, in India in Q3 2017. “We started with a humble beginning of selling 100,000 per quarter in 2014, crossed the 1 million mark in Q3 2015, 3 million in Q3 2016 and now for the first time – 9 million in Q3 2017,” he said in a tweet.
