SINGAPORE — Authorities in China and around the world are in a race to contain a deadly coronavirus – originating from Wuhan – that’s fast-spreading throughout Asia and the globe.
To date, the epidemic has surpassed the recorded infection and fatality figures for the 2002-2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak.
The outbreak started sometime in December last year and is likely to have come from an
animal source at Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan, which reportedly sold live foxes, crocodiles, wolf puppies, giant salamanders, snakes, porcupines, and other game, in addition to seafood.

313 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Singapore, of which over 130 are imported cases.
