Eman Ahmed, the world’s heaviest woman continues to beat the odds of science, after losing 120 kg since being admitted to a hospital in Mumbai for weight-loss surgery, a doctor said on Friday.
The 36-year-old, who weighed 500 kg when she came to Mumbai last month, underwent a surgery at Saifee Hospital. A team of doctors performed a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy on Ahmed on March 7 to help her lose weight.
Bariatric surgeon Muffazal Lakdawala, who is treating Ahmed, said the weight loss till now has been mostly due to reduction in the water content in her body.

Fat reduction generally takes more time. Medication and food intakes are also being changed from time to time, he said.

Lakdawala said that physiotherapy and prescribed diet along with medication is the treatment she is getting. He’s hopeful of development of her muscles and bones, so that she could move after some days.
