Residents of Bihar’s Bihiya town stripped a woman, beat her, and paraded her naked, on suspicions of being involved in the death of a 16-year-old boy in the town on Monday, 20 August, ANI reported.

According to a report in The Times of India, the 16-year-old, named Bimlesh Kumar, had visited the town to seek admission into Class 12, and was found dead near the woman’s house, with wounds on his genitals.

As per an Aaj Tak report, residents of Bihiya also recorded a video of the woman as she was paraded naked through the town.

15 people have been arrested in connection with the incident as of 21 August.

Speaking to ANI, the Inspector General of Patna said that eight police personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bihiya were suspended on 21 August.

He added that an FIR has been registered against the people responsible for both the stripping and the attacks on shops, promising that action would be taken against those found guilty.

He also said that the woman had been questioned in connection with Bimlesh’s death on 20 August, after which residents, based on suspicions that she was involved in his death, attacked her.
