1. Decode messages
No I don't mean an encrypted program but decoding themessage that is being passed on in a conversation. Having a perception checkwill help you understand the context the other person is trying to pull-off.
2. keep conflicts at a bay
Conflicts in most cases arise out of a misunderstanding orlack of communication. If you carefully listen to the other person and try tounderstand the situation from their viewpoint, it will make them feel heard andvalued and the heat of the moment will be gone.
You can always let them know how do you feel about thematter later on!
3. Build relationships
Building a relationship is a complex psychologicalphenomenon that involves 2 or more individuals trying to understand each otherand reach higher levels of intimacy. This will lay a strong foundation for an ever-lasting relationship.
4. Lets you speak a known language
Language is not just what we speak, it is much more thanthat. Your body, eyes, hand movements, nods, and so many other gestures form apart of the language. If you duly understand what the other one is saying youwill automatically nod, stand in a relaxed gesture and speak sportingly.
5. Reduce defensiveness
Do you often find yourself playing defensively in a situation? Could there be another way of replying? Defensive replies come up when we getoffended which is a result of being misunderstood or misunderstanding the otherone. The best way is to simply ask for clarification!
