14 Oct 2018: Why Liverpool might end up trophy-less this term?
Without a doubt, Liverpool are among the most exciting football clubs at the moment.
They are playing exceptionally well in the Premier League. Further, till now, they have faced only two losses against Chelsea (EFL Cup), and Napoli (Champions League).
However, the resurgence that Klopp has brought to the side might not help Liverpool win a trophy this season.
Here we analyze the reasons.
Chelsea: Sarri's Chelsea are booming at the same time
Maurizio Sarri has breathed life into the Chelsea squad, with the Blues playing effective and creative football.
Hazard is enjoying the form of his life this term. Notably, as of now, he is the highest goal-scorer in EPL.
Chelsea are not playing Champions League football this season, and if they capitalize on their EPL prospects, life will become difficult for Liverpool.
Salah: Mo Salah is far from his best this term
For any team to win a trophy, a prolific goal-scorer is needed, and that is exactly what Salah was for Liverpool last term.
However, the Egyptian King is going through a dry phase and has been far from effective.
Moreover, Liverpool forwards are missing a lot of chances this season and they are wasting away scoring opportunities in every other match.
Tactics: High-pressing football has started taking a toll on Klopp's men
Liverpool were brilliant in their first few matches of the season due to the high work-rate each player put in.
However, as the season progresses, players are bound to get tired, and since Liverpool play off the ball, their pressing might not be great, especially from older players like Milner.
After having lost against Chelsea and Napoli, are Klopp's men headed towards downfall?
Finishing: Finishing has been a major issue
With talents like Salah, Mane, and Firmino in front, Liverpool should technically not have a problem scoring goals.
However, no one can seem to find the back of the net with ease, and this might pose as a major issue as the season progresses.
Klopp needs to mend the ways somehow if he wants to decorate Anfield with a silverware in 2019.
