While TRAI disrupts Reliance Jio’s prime service, Idea set to offer upto 10GB free data

New Delhi, April 6: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Thursday advised telecom giant Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited to withdraw the three-month complimentary benefits under its Jio Summer Surprise scheme. Idea wants to utilise this time for their customers and announced a postpaid promotional scheme as a “Data Jackpot”, which offers up to 10GB of data per month, for three months, at Rs. 100 per month. This offer is valid only valid for the postpaid customers of Idea only.

The Idea postpaid customers can avail this offer from My Idea app. This Data Jackpot scheme is the jackpot and the data is not fixed for the customers just like a lottery system but customers will get minimum 1GB data and maximum up to 10 GB data at Rs. 100 per month. Idea notes the Data Jackpot offer is only available for subscription for a limited time and that data benefits may vary from circle to circle. After Jio offers summer special offer Idea last week unveiled a 1GB per day prepaid pack for Rs. 300. The 1GB data per day pack will be applicable for postpaid users on a rental plan of Rs. 199. The idea gave a discount to the customers for the first three months. Now Idea users can avail of this 1GB/ day plan till April 30, 2017 only and it will be valid till March 31, 2018 The data benefit of 1GB/ day is available on 4G handsets only, and 3GB/ month is given to non-4G handset users.

Meanwhile, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has ordered Reliance Jio to withdraw their extension plan on Jio Prime. Jio accepted the regulatory authority’s this decision and will be withdrawing the 3 months complimentary benefits as soon as operationally feasible, over the next few days. However, all customers who have subscribed to the offer prior to its discontinuation will remain eligible for the offer.
