Quarantined: Here are the books Saif Ali Khan has in his library

We got a sneak peek into the Nawab's cosy library thanks to Kareena Kapoor Khan's Instagram. So we dug in a little deeper to find out what's on Saif's reading list! Wouldn't you want to know?!

He’s known to be a voracious reader and, till now, we’d only heard stories about his vast library. If you’v ever met Saif Ali Khan or read his interviews, you wouldn’t disbelieve that the man loves his books just as much he loves his single malt. By all estimates, his library is filled with signed copies as well as first editions. And, by his own account, he has the first editions of The Complete Works of Edgar Allan Poe and War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy and the folio edition of The Holy Bible.

Saif is also known to be a big Woodhouse fan and, somewhat predictably, his favourite character remains the amiable English gentleman Bertie Wooster. And another Englishman, Sherlock Holmes.

Even though War and Peace remains among his top read books, Saif told Hindustan Times in an interview that he’s yet to get around to reading the other great Russian epic, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Needless to say Tolstoy figures among his favourite authors aside from Umberto Eco and Salman Rushdie. Rushdie’s Enchantress of Florence is also among Saif’s favourites and he counts it among Rushdie’s most underrated works.

But what’s the Nawab been reading lately. Thanks to Kareena Kapoor Khan’s recent Instagram post, we got some hint.

The post features a picture of Saif Ali Khan sitting in his library, with a candle next to him, reading while Kareena seems busy taking selfies. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s post, however, revealed a lot about the books that are within an arm’s reach in the family library. Zoom in a little and you’ll see, a book on antiques, something by the American crime fiction writer, James Ellroy (is that a collection of his works, we wonder?) a book by the French philosopher Jean Paul Sartre, a dictionary of the French language, a Concise Dictionary of the English language, Joan of Arc: A History by Helen Castor, and last but not the least, Mein Kampf, the autobiography of Adolf Hitler.

But these are just the books we could spot? With hawk-eye readers such as you, we’re sure, we could add to that list. So go on and take a closer look at Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Instagram and tell us what books you can spot in Saif Ali Khan’s library! Post your discoveries in the comments section below!
