West Bengal reports 1,933 new COVID-19 cases, 35 deaths

Kolkata, Jun 25 (PTI) West Bengal's coronavirus tally shot up to 14,91,219 on Friday as 1,933 more people tested positive for the infection while 35 fresh fatalities pushed the states coronavirus death toll to 17,551, a health bulletin said.

North Parganas district registered the highest number of fresh cases at 237, followed by Kolkata (190).

As many as 1,975 people have been cured of the disease since Thursday taking the recovery rate among the coronavirus patients in the state to 97.33 per cent.

A total of 14,51,437 people have recovered from the infection as of date.

The state now has 22,231 active cases and the positivity rate is 3.48 per cent.

West Bengal has so far tested over 1,39,50,686 samples for COVID-19, including 55,557 in the last 24 hours.

The state has thus far vaccinated over 2.02 crore people, including 3.16 lakh on Friday. PTI SUS MM MM
