West Bengal COVID crisis deepens; Govt focuses on partial lockdown

The COVID crisis in the state of West Bengal is only getting worrisome as the state is now witnessing a surge in the death toll along with a surge in the number of COVID-19 cases. This comes after the assembly elections polling which took place in eight phases in the state. In the last 24 hours, Bengal alone has reported over 70,000 cases with over 100 deaths. The chief secretary of West Bengal held a meeting with the authorities of private hospitals and they have listed the vaccine demand as one of their top priority. The focus is on vaccinating those above 45 years of age as of now in West Bengal. The government in West Bengal is now considering ways to impose partial lockdown.
