West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee came to power for the third term on May 2nd in the state after the results for Assembly elections were announced. Following her victory, the state was made privy to violence under the garb of celebrations and as many as 10,000 people were displaced, while many others fled to Assam seeking refuge and shelter. Over 600 academicians and scholars have now issued a collective statement and condemned the post-poll violence which was unleashed in many parts of West Bengal.
