The whole Delhi-NCR region woke up to yet another smoggy morning on Thursday with AQI levels touching "severe" levels.

Weather forecast Today Live News Updates: There was no respite from severe air quality in Delhi-NCR as the region continued to be shrouded by a thick layer of toxic smog. Schools in the Delhi-NCR region remained closed as per the direction of the authorities Wednesday night. Yesterday, the EPCA (Environment Pollution Control Authority ) had recommended closure of the schools citing hazardous air quality.

The region woke up to yet another smoggy morning on Thursday with AQI levels touching "severe" levels. The air quality in the national capital stood at 470 at 9 am, as per the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). As per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Faridabad recorded AQI at 441, Ghaziabad at 481, Greater Noida 469, Gurugram 427 while Noida at 474 till 9.30 on Thursday morning.

According to weather experts, a fall in temperature and wind speed has led to the accumulation of pollutants. The problems were further compounded by a cloud cover that blocked sunlight. All government and private schools in NCR have been shut down for two days on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places across West Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal region, Kerala and Mahe. Jammu and Kashmir is likely to receive heavy rain or snow at isolated places today.
