Mamta Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal has written to the Agriculture Minister a day after Mr. Amit Shah accused her of stalling the P.M Kisaan scheme. However, in her letter Mamta Banerjee did not oppose the scheme but instead welcomed it.
Central schemes are most welcome, she said, but they cannot bypass the state government. Doing so results in only a political but not public benefit. In doing so she pointed out how there were schemes in the past that reached out to people directly, and therefore these funds as well should be directly transferred from the government to the beneficiaries, reducing chances of corruption.
Amit Malviya from BJP later tweeted saying “Farmers of Bengal are losing 4320 crores.”
