After voicing their demands in a number of unique ways, the farmers of Tamil Nadu on Monday ate grass as a symbol of their deteriorating plight, at Jantar Mantar in the national capital. Hundreds of state farmers have been protesting here demanding that their loans be waived off by the Centre. They have also been demanding drought relief package of Rs. 40,000 crores since March 14. Their other demands include unification of water bodies, setting up of a Cauvery Management Board and a 50 percent raise in profit margin for farmers. These farmers have warned of breathing their last at the Jantar Mantar itself if their demands are not fulfilled.
