Vodafone Joins Budget Phone League With Jio, Airtel; Ties up With Itel Mobile to Launch Itel A20 Smartphone at Rs 1,590
New Delhi, November 23: Vodafone India, the leader in the enterprises business in the telecom sector has rolled out a new plan to counter Reliance Jio’s disruptive offers. The telecom giant has come up with a new recharge pack of Rs 199 in Delhi-NCR circle for prepaid users that comes with bundled data too. Under the newly announced plan, Vodafone is offering 1GB data with a validity of 28 days. It has to be noted that there are daily and weekly caps to the bundled calls. The local and STD calls are capped at a maximum of 250 minutes of free calls in a day and 1,000 minutes in a week. Once the limit is exhausted, the user will be charged at 30 paisa per minute for subsequent calls. This means users will be charged at 30 paise per minute after 250 minutes in a day is over.
The entry of Reliance Jio in September 2016 created a major disruption in the telecom sector. Its rival telcos like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular have come up with various plans offering bundled voice and data packs to lure customers. Vodafone’s new plan comes days after Aircel launched a Rs 104 pack that lowers call tariff to 20 paisa per minute for 365 days.
If Vodafone’s Rs 199 plan is to be compared with Reliance Jio’s Rs 149 plan, Jio offers gives users 2GB data for a validity of 28 days in prepaid. The Jio plan comes with unlimited voice calls (local and STD included) and unlimited SMS (300 limits per day. On Tuesday, Vodafone had announced a Rs 349 plan offering1.5GB of data per day for its prepaid users. The plan came with a period of 28 days. Under the Rs 349 plan, users can avail 1.5GB data per day on both 4G and 3G networks, with unlimited local and STD calls to any network and there is free roaming as well.
