Violence in Allahabad After Murder of Law Students, Mob Torches Bus
New Delhi, Feb 12: Violence erupted in Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad on Monday after death of a law student who was attacked by a group of men on Friday (February 9) evening.
The student, Dilip Saroj, was beaten with iron rod, hockey stick outside a restaurant by a few men over a petty issue. The attack was captured on a mobile by a passerby. As soon as the news about his death spread, angry students took to streets shouting slogans against the local administration and pelting stones. The mob also torched a bus in protest.
Heavy police deployment has been made across the town to prevent the condition from deteriorating further.
Meanwhile, Allahabad SSP Akash Kulhary has suspended three policemen on charges of dereliction of duties.Kulhary said several police teams have been formed to nab the accused.
