Villanova fans celebrate by climbing street poles despite greasy efforts from police to stop them

Just like before the Super Bowl, police around Philadelphia lubed up street lamps and sign posts in anticipation of a raucous celebration if Villanova won Monday’s NCAA national championship.

Just like the Super Bowl, the home team did in fact win the big game.

And just like the Super Bowl, the greased poles did not work.

The celebration is on in the Philadelphia area, and that means revelers are climbing street signs, lubed or not.

They’re also starting bonfires in the streets.

But so far, everything seems to relatively civil, with no reports of out-of-control property damage or human injury. Or horse punching.

Please, Villanova fans. Stay safe and be kind to each other and all animals. Congrats on your second big win of 2018.
