Wanted to get sense of what people are going through, weren't allowed beyond airport: Rahul Gandhi

Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders were sent back to Delhi on their arrival in Jammu and Kashmir's capital city Srinagar. Speaking about the issue, Gandhi told the media that few days ago, he was invited by the Governor Satyapal Malik. He accepted the invitation but now they weren't allowed beyond the airport. He said, "Some days ago I was invited by Governor to visit J and K.I accepted the invitation. We wanted to get a sense of what people are going through, but we weren't allowed beyond the airport. Press people with us were mishandled and were beaten up. It's clear that situation in J and K isn't normal". Delegation of Opposition leaders comprising Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, D Raja, Sharad Yadav, Manoj Jha, Majeed Memon, and others went to Srinagar earlier today from where they were sent back. They have returned to Delhi.
