Vladimir Putin calls PM Manmohan Singh to discuss situation in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin called Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and discussed the evolving situation in Ukraine and recent referendum in Crimea, said foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin. Defying Ukrainian protests and Western sanctions, Putin signed a treaty on Tuesday making Crimea part of Russia again but said he did not plan to seize any other regions of Ukraine. Singh, meanwhile, expressed his hopes that all sides would exercise restraint and work together constructively to find political and diplomatic solutions that protect the legitimate interest of all the countries and ensured long term peace and stability in Europe and beyond.
