The terrible clothing factory collapse which killed more than 1100 people in Savar near Dhaka on April 24 shocked the world. The country struggles with pressing concerns like corporate responsibility and overhauling standard operating procedures regarding safety issues. Dr.Prabhu Mohapatra, who is an Associate Professor at the University of Delhi and specializes in labour studies, migration and identity formation, blames lax implementation of Labour Law as one of the reasons behind plightful condition of the workers.
