Strikes in Bangladesh and increasing value of dollar takes toll on trade with India

The trade between India and Bangladesh faced the brunt of continuous strikes and unrest in wake of the death sentence awarded to Jamaat-e-Islami party's secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammed Mujaheed. The increase in dollar prices also adds to the trade woes between the two countries. Trade in Tripura and Bangladesh has been badly affected as authorities claim that there is a dip in the number of trucks transporting goods across the border. Agartala Exporters-importers association general secretary, Monish Biswas said that the trade between the two countries has drastically reduced and has resulted in an increase in unemployment.
