Sabarimala row: Trupti Desai urges state govt to provide protection to women devotees

Activist Trupti Desai who arrived at Kochi airport to visit Sabarimala temple on Friday was stopped by Lord Ayyappa devotees and protestors who did not let her enter the temple. She was however scheduled to visit the temple today. An agitated Desai criticised the protestors of not being true devotees of Lord Ayyappa as they abused and threatened her. She said, "We came here today to enter Sabarimala Temple. We were stopped at the airport. When we tried to book a taxi the protestors threatened taxi drivers to damage their vehicles if they will hire us and we will be attacked. They also threatened the hotel staff of damaging their buildings if they give us rooms. I urge the government to give protection to women devotees as these are the orders of the Supreme Court". Gates of the temple were open for devotees at 5 pm today.
