Rescue operations in Uttarakhand to take two more days: ITBP

All the stranded locals, pilgrims and tourists people in Uttarakhand, ravaged by furious floods and landslides would be rescued to safety over the next two days. Director General of the para-military Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Ajay Chadha stated this at a news conference in New Delhi on Friday. He also mentioned around 500 people were saved after a road link was restored between Gaurikund to Sonprayag. He said that in this mission, members of the rescue teams travelled by foot, daring all odds to reach the spots of devastation. Apart from the three-pronged action plan of the IAF, the Army and the ITBP, teams of experts from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) too have extended their assistance in evacuating the stranded persons.
