Referring to Congress president Rahul Gandhi's "chowkidar" statement attributed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said that Rahul Gandhi's should take care of the choice of words while critiquing. The Finance Minister said, "Public discourse is not a laughter challenge. In a democracy criticisms are common, but the choice of words should be such that it shows some intelligence. Vulgarities do not suit the largest democracy in the world. One should take care of the choice of words, phrase and idiom."
