Over 200 villages affected due to flood water

More than 200 villages have been overflowing with flood water affecting over 30,000 acre agriculture land in Mayurbhanj. Continuous rains for last three days have led to an increase in water level of the river Budhabalanga, Deo Nadi and Gangahar. The flood-affected area comes under Gopabandhu Nagar Block, Khunta Block, Udala Block and Badsahi Block. The water level of these rivers increased much higher than the danger level causing overflow of water to the agriculture land and villages. The crops are completely destroyed and maximum road communication and small culverts are partially or fully disconnected because of the damages. The administration, on the other hand, has failed to reach the flood-affected people. Even the rescue centre, built up for the particular purpose, spending crores of public money, was also of no use as the shelter were not yet opened for the affected villagers. The villagers then took initiative and helped themselves.
