'Navratri' special garba fever runs high in Surat

'Navratri' fever ran high in parts of Surat as revelers, dressed in traditional finery, danced to the tunes of folk songs and offered prayers to goddess Durga. 'Navratri' is a nine-day-long festival which celebrates the victory of Durga over Mahishasura. The goddess represents power, the feminine force, which guides and destroys all the evil from earth. Locals and non-resident Indians (NRI) came together in Surat to celebrate the festival by performing the popular folk dance 'Garba'. Unperturbed by the humid weather, the dancer reveled in their multi-hued outfits resembled a kaleidoscope of colours.
