Nationwide lockdown improves water quality of Ganga River

The holy river Ganga has become cleaner in the last few days. It is an affect of nationwide lockdown as the major cause of water pollution is the toxic industrial waste which is discharged into the river. Since all the factories are closed due to the lockdown, the Ganga River has become cleaner.Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Banaras Hindu University's (BHU) Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering, PK Mishra also said that the nationwide lockdown has positive impact on Ganga. The Ganga enters Uttar Pradesh in Bijnor district and passes through major districts such as Meerut, Bulandshahar, Aligarh, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, among others. The nation is under 21-day nationwide lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. In India 2, 784 people are under COVID19 threat.
