NITI Aayog's member VK Saraswat on January 19 clarified his statement on suspension of internet services in Jammu and Kashmir. Denying his statement, Saraswat said that his statement is misquoted and out of context. He also apologized to the people of Jammu and Kashmir if his statement hurt their sentiments. Earlier, a video of Saraswat saying said that suspension of internet services in Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 did not have any significant effect on the economy because it is only used to watch 'dirty movies'. "They (politicians) use social media to fuel protests. What difference does it make if there's no internet in Kashmir? What do you watch on internet there? What e-tailing is happening? Besides watching dirty films, you do nothing," He made this statement in Gujarat's Gandhinagar on January 18.
