Locals protest killing of Dalit man in Punjab's Sangrur

A group of locals staged a protest against the killing of a Dalit man Jagmail Singh, who was allegedly beaten up and forced to drink urine in Punjab's Sangrur. Protesters demanded compensation for his family. While speaking to media, AAP MLA Harpal Singh Cheema said that compensation of Rs. 50 lakh must be given to the deceased's family. "He (Dalit man Jagmail Singh) died after he was forced to drink urine and was thrashed mercilessly. A compensation of Rs. 50 lakh must be given to the family of the deceased and also, a family member should be given a government job," Cheema told reporters.
