Allahabad is situated in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. The city also known as Prayag, has been home to many saints of different communities. It is known for religious tolerance and harmony between different communities that live here. The annual Urs or death anniversary of Makhdoon Jahan exemplifies this spirit of communal harmony. It reflects good relations that exist between Hindu and Muslim devotees who come to the mausoleum to pay obeisance to the Sufi saint in large numbers. The Sufi shrine presents a picture of religious amity as Muslims along and Hindus of the area make arrangements for the Urs.
