Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has appealed the North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) parties to stand with the people of Northeast over Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB). Speaking to ANI after attending Congress Parliamentary Strategy Group Meeting at 10 Janpath, Gogoi said, "If the central government believes in democracy, then they will definitely understand the concerns of the people of Assam over this issue. And, if they believe in dictatorship then they will definitely curb the democratic demands of the people. I have faith that the voices of the people will be heard. I appeal to all North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) parties to stand with your people of northeast. Do not side with BJP for political compulsions. Whatever decision NEDA will take, the people of north-east will remember it forever."
