Four maoists gunned down during anti-ultras operation


Acting on a tip off, at least four Maoists were gunned down during an hour-long gun battle with security personnel in Latehar district of Jharkhand. Speaking to the media persons, Superintendent of Police of Latehar, Kranti Kumar said that the villagers had spotted the Maoists carrying bodies of their colleagues. Police recovered three assault rifles, 33 bullets, Rs.2,500 and some other materials from spot. The left wing extremists have significantly increased their presence in tribal and rural regions in the naxal inflicted states of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has termed them the biggest threat to the internal security.
