A farmer allegedly tried to commit suicide during an event in Maharashtra's Buldhana on June 15. He tried to commit suicide in front of Maharashtra Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule over demand of electricity in his area. 39-year-old farmer was upset over not getting a power connection from last 38 years. Ishwar Kharate came to an agriculture exhibition which was being held in Malkapur taluka where Minister of State (MoS) for Parliamentary Affairs Ranjeet Patil and MoS Energy Madan Yerawar were present. After Patil launched the exhibition, the farmer started shouting that his family had been trying to get an electricity connection for last 38 years, but it has gone in vain. Farmer then allegedly consumed a poisonous substance at the premises following which the police got hold of him. The farmer was rushed to the district hospital where his condition was reported to be out of danger. Probe is underway in this incident.
