Devotees in large numbers thronged Lord Ayyappa's temple in Karnataka's Hubli on Friday in the wake of 'Niraputhari' ritual and festivities of Chingam this week. Ayyappa devotees were advised by authorities not to visit the hill shrine due to heavy floods. Despite being warned and unavailability of transport services, a large number of devotees were seen at the shrine. The Pampa river at the foothills is overflowing due to heavy rains. The bridges across the river at Triveni, which devotees use to reach the shrine, were inundated.
