Death toll of birds mounts to 15000 at Rajasthan's Sambhar Lake

Birds death count increased around Sambhar Salt Lake. More than 15000 birds have been found dead till now. Rajasthan Forest and Environment Minister Sukhram Vishnoi said, "We will open a wildlife checkpost to keep a check so that such incidents can be avoided." On November 12, around 1,000 birds were found dead around Sambhar Lake. The carcasses not only included the indigenous but also migratory birds that flock to the lake each year. Experts have said that Avian Botulism could be reason behind the deaths.
