Thiruvarur's Kokaladi village has also been affected by cyclonic storm 'Gaja' after it affected various other parts in Tamil Nadu. As people are severely affected by the cyclonic storm, they staged protest, for not receiving enough relief from the government, by blocking roads. Houses in Kokaladi village have been damaged and various trees have fallen down. The cyclone has also affected Nagapattinam. The area has been affected by overnight rainfall and severe winds. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami confirmed on Friday that 11 people have lost their lives due to Cyclone Gaja. The state government has also announced Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh to those severely injured.
