Congress' Mani Shankar Aiyar slams BJP for 'anti-Muslim legislation'

While speaking at a public gathering in Kerala's Malappuram, Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar said, "It was only in 2014 that they (BJP) got the majority and that majority got increased in May 2019. They (BJP) said we also have a slight majority in Rajya Sabha along with others, so let us push all the anti-Muslim legislation that we have in mind. It began with Article 370 (abrogation) and 35A of Constitution and then the division of the Riyasat of Jammu-Kashmir between Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, and then a brutal oppression of the people of the Valley. At one stage, they even locked up, 4,000 leaders." He further said, "There are traitors like the ones we are seeing now, but then in every society there are traitors, these are not representatives of the people, if they were, they would have been elected many years ago. How many elections we've had in Jammu and Kashmir? Some of these people are those who were elected and have now decided to betray the cause for which they stood. They are sending 36 union ministers to J-K, look at these cowards, 31 are going to Jammu and only 5 to Kashmir."
