CBI conducts searches at PNB branch in Mumbai along with accused

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at the Brady Road branch of the bank in Mumbai with the arrested Punjab National Bank's former deputy manager Gokulnath Shetty and Manoj Kharat, SWO (single window operator) in connection with the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case involving businessmen Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. The CBI enquired the manager of the branch and the staff and gathered some important documents. Shetty issued letters of undertaking (LoU) without approval from higher authorities on behalf of companies of Modi group and Mehul Choksi for seven years. He was one of the employees authorised to use the SWIFT messaging system for sending LoUs. Shetty and Kharat will be produced in a CBI special court in Mumbai. The court has sent them to police remand till 3rd March.
