Cabinet approves pay hike for High Court, Supreme Court judges: Law and Justice Minister

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave a nod to revision in the salaries, gratuity and pension of the High Court and the Supreme Court judges consequent upon recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission informed the Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Cabinet Meeting was led by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The Law and Justice Minister added that the proposed increase in the salary and allowance will benefit 31 Judges of the Supreme Court of India (including Chief Justice of India) and 1079 Judges of the High Courts (including Chief Justices of the High Courts). Prasad added that the move will also benefit 2,500 retired judges.
