Bastar: 14-day 'pad-yatra' demanding revival of Indravati river ends

Locals of Bastar in Chhattisgarh, who had embarked on a 14-day 'padyatra' (foot march) on May 08 demanding the revival of Indravati river, concluded their march on Tuesday. Indravati river, regarded as a lifeline of Bastar, is facing grave crisis due to depleting water level. Indravati originates from Odisha and covers a distance of 164 km before it enters Chhattisgarh's Bastar, and because of this, the river has also become a bone of contention between the two states. Locals who marched for 14 days said the mission of the padyatra is to demand immediate steps to save Indravati river.
