Arun Shourie stands by his remark on PM's economic reforms

Former BJP leader Arun Shourie today defended his remarks praising the government over the decisions to hike diesel prices. Speaking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Shourie said that the announcement of foreign direct investment in retail would be a no profit, no loss scheme. Shourie also added that the government should provide subsidy to families below the poverty line through bank transfers to avoid any leakages. Shourie, a former Information and Technology minister on Saturday had praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for 'finally showing some strength for the first time' for the economic reforms and added that the hike in prices of diesel was long over due.
