Fans of actor-politician Pawan Kalyan thronged the theatres on Monday evening to see their favourite star on the big screen after more than three years as the trailer of his upcoming movie Vakeel Saab was released. In one incident caught on camera, Pawan Kalyan fans at a Visakhapatnam theatre were seen pushing through the doors and rushing into the theatre, resulting in a stampede-like situation. Even as a guard tried to stop them, scores of men were seen jostling and rushing forward, and even breaking a glass partition. A few fans were seen falling on the broken glass before they were helped up and continued to rush into the theatre. The incident reportedly occurred at the Sangam Sarat dual-screen theatre in Vizag.

Pawan Kalyan fans were seen engaged in festive celebrations in several theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, to mark the trailer release. Theatrical releases of Telugu films had resumed in December after theatres opened after remaining closed for several months. Several Telugu films released in theatres since then have reportedly been commercially successful. This includes films like Krack, Uppena and Jathi Ratnalu. However, Vakeel Saab, which is set to release on April 9, will be the first film of one of the bigger stars to be out in theatres. Acharya, starring Chiranjeevi, is set to release on May 13, while Venkatesh’s Narappa, a remake of the Tamil film Asuran, will release on May 14. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa is scheduled to release on August 13, while SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR is tentatively set to have a grand release on October 13.
The trailer of Vakeel Saab was released online and in several theatres across the Telugu states on Monday. A remake of the 2016 Hindi film Pink, Vakeel Saab has Pawan Kalyan reprising the role of a lawyer played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original. Nivetha Thomas, Anjali and Ananya Nagalla will be seen in the roles played by Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang in the Hindi original. The film was also remade in Tamil as Nerkonda Paarvai, starring Ajith, Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami Venkatachalam and Andrea Tariang.
