Man United missing '20-goal striker', says Van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says his expensively assembled squad has not challenged for the Premier League title this season because they do not have a prolific striker like their rivals. Despite spending more than 150 million pounds ($231.48 million) in the close season, including a six-million pound season-long loan deal for Colombia striker Radamel Falcao, United have looked uncharacteristically subdued when going forward during the campaign. Van Gaal has come under scrutiny …

Los Angeles, Oct 14 (IANS) Actress Sofia Vergara, who is ready to walk the aisle for the second time, says she never planned to remarry as she was happy being a single parent so far. But she admits she is in a happy space currently.

The "Modern Family" actress, who recently became engaged to businessman Nick Loeb, says she did not want to wed again after her split from childhood sweetheart Joe Gonzalez nearly two decades ago, but thinks it is "perfect" timing now, reports contactmusic.com.

"I never really planned on getting married again. I had my son and it just wasn't a priority. But I love being in love, and I'm very happy right now. It's perfect," said Vergara, who has a 20-year-old son Manolo from her relationship with Gonzalez.

The 40-year-old is particularly close to Manolo because of all the time they have spent together, but now that his college is in Boston, she is less likely to see him because it is too "cold" in Massachusetts.

"We're very close because I got divorced when he was just one, so it's been the two of us. I divide my time between New York and Los Angeles, but I used to always say home is where my son is. But he's now in college in Boston and my home is definitely not Boston - it's too cold," she told Glamour Magazine.

Brit Awards tumble leaves Madonna with 'little bit of a whiplash'

Madonna said she suffered whiplash when she was pulled by her cape causing her to fall and hit her head during a performance at the Brit Awards this week. "I had a little bit of a whiplash and I smacked the back of my head, so there was a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3 a.m. making sure that I was still conscious," Madonna said in an episode of the show that will air on March 14. A little dazed, Madonna rose to her feet before finishing the song. "I didn't hurt my butt, …
