Chelsea can secure qualification to the last-16 of the Champions League when they take on Valencia tonight.

Frank Lampard’s men travel to Spain to face Los Ches, who emerged 1-0 victors in September’s encounter at Stamford Bridge.

Since then, Chelsea have picked up seven points from their last three European matches, moving them level with table-toppers Ajax and third-placed Valencia.

Should the Blues win this evening, their spot in the knockout stages of the competition will be guaranteed.

Chelsea will be without Callum Hudson-Odoi for the clash, having picked up a minor hamstring injury during England duty.

Match odds

Valencia to win: 27/10

Draw: 27/10

Chelsea to win: 21/20

Since that defeat by Valencia in September, Chelsea have put in a promising run of form that has seen them lose just three times. In Europe, Lampard’s side beat Ajax on the road and notably came back against the Dutch champions in a thrilling 4-4 draw at home earlier this month.

The Blues are certainly on the up and showing all the right signs of progress under Lampard, but there’s no doubt that an away day at the Mestalla will make for a stern test. Both teams are somewhat unpredictable too, and given how much is riding on this match, it’s likely to be a tight and cagey affair. Given how far Chelsea have come in recent months, though, they should have enough to get over the line and pick up three crucial points.
