The vaccination drive began in India on Jan 16th, 2021 and more than 19M people have been vaccinated. The third phase of the vaccination drive will begin from May 1st and everyone above the age of 18 years will be eligible to get a vaccine jab this time. However, the government has decentralized the vaccines this time, allowing the states to procure them. The vaccine pricing has now stoked a row in the country with different pricing for govt and Pvt hospitals. Serum Institute of India's Chief Adar Poonawalla has responded to the vaccine controversy and stated that it is still one of the most affordable vaccines in the country. He further adds that limited jabs will be provided to the private firms.
