Uttarakhand disaster: Rescue operations underway in Chamoli, 173 feared to be missing

The death toll in the Uttarakhand tragedy has now risen to 58, while the rescue operation is still underway. A part of the Nanda Devi glacier broke off in the Chamoli district and caused severe damage to both life and property. A series of flash floods caused havoc and the Rishiganga hydropower project was officially wiped off. More teams continue to remain deployed on the affected sites, however, no survivors have come out as of now from the NTPC tunnel. Close to 173 people are still missing, apart from the 37 people, who are feared to be trapped inside the NTPC tunnel, and out of this 37, only 11 have been rescued by the NDRF team.
